Logo Contest Rules and Details

The Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank (GMVLB) needs a logo that can be used on stationary. The design should reflect the activities and values included in GMVLB’s Strategic Plan, mission and vision statements. The Strategic Plan and other documents can be found on this website. The logo might eventually become a brand for GMVLB that could be used in other ways on other materials such as newsletters, the web site, or mailers.

 

Eligibility – The contest is open to any amateur or professional artist located in the Mohawk Valley region. Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank Board and Committee members and employees of the Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank, as well as their immediate families, are not eligible to enter.

 

Sponsor -- The Logo Design Contest is sponsored by the Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank (GMVLB), PO Box 53, Little Falls, NY 13365-0053 (“Sponsor”).

Deadline – All entries must be received by December 10th, 2021.

Entry Forms – Entries must be accompanied by this completed and signed entry form below.

 

Multiple Entries – A maximum of two (2) entries per artist is allowed. Each entry must be listed on a separate entry form.

 

Format – Entries should be printed/hard copy.

 

Entry Identification – Each entry must be adequately identified. The entry form below with the artist’s name, contact information, and signature must be placed in a sealed envelop attached to the BACK of each logo entry. Do not write anything directly on the logo design.

 

Judging – Entries will be judged on originality, composition, overall impact, artistic merit, technical proficiency, and subject matter relevance to the Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank. Judging will be conducted by a group of guest judges to be selected by the Sponsor. The judges will evaluate all valid entries and pick up to four winners: one first prize  award ($1000) and one runner up award ($500), and two honorable mention awards ($250 each). It is the intention of the Sponsor to award at least one prize to a student. Winners will be announced on January 7th, 2022. The prize-winning designs will be considered a “work for hire” and will belong to the Greater Mohawk Valley Land Bank for its use.

 

Winning designs —The winning logo designs will be posted on the Sponsor’s website and Facebook page, and the artists will be identified there.

 

Potential Winner Requirements — Except where prohibited, a prize winner may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility, including proof of age, and liability/publicity release within 14 days of the announcement of prize winners. If a prize winner is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian will be required to sign the documents on his/her behalf. If a potential winner fails to return these documents on time, an alternate winner may be selected in his/her place.

 

The Sponsor’s Rights – As “works for hire,” the prize-winning designs will become the property of the Sponsor.

 

Release and Limitations of Liability -- By entering, the artist agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Facebook, their respective parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the logo contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the GMVLB logo contest; (b) technical errors; (c) printing errors; (d) late or undelivered mail; (e) errors in the administration of the logo contest; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property. The artist waives the right to claim any attorneys fees and any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

 

Other – Logo contest submissions will be available to be retrieved at the GMVLB offices, 2nd floor, 500 E Main St in the Adirondack Bank Building January 10  through February 11, 2021 between 9 AM and 3 PM. Any items not retrieved by March 1, 2022, shall be disposed of by the Sponsor at their discretion.

**All applicants should be students in or residents of the Mohawk Valley region of New York State (including Fulton County, Herkimer County, Montgomery County, Oneida County, Otsego County, and Schoharie County).**
